School Halloween Parties

Truett went to his school party dressed as Superman. He also had to have some glitter eye makeup on to make the costume just how he wanted it!

Owen went as Shaggy with the facial hair and all!

Pumpkin Carving at Papa's House

So we carved up some pumpkins the other night. Owen wanted a haunted house on his pumpkin. Truett just wanted to stab the pumpkin with the carving tool, which he referred to as his sword. He definitely has a fettish with sharp things that cut. Anyway, Truett's pumpkin was more like a light-bright with colored "nails" that were poked into the pumpkin. His was a bat shape.

"The Cat Hotel"

Owen "built" a cat hotel for Peterson in his playroom, made out of toys. He even hung a sign on the outside "The Cat's Playpen" and he also colored a picture which hung on the inside for "the kitten to enjoy".

WE LOVE HALLOWEEN

Owen and Truett made "masks" last Sunday. Truett wanted me to cut his to look like a T-Rex-- because he is in love with dinosaurs-- especially the "eat-meaters". Even though I tell him it is meat-eaters, he still mixes it up, and it is very cute. So Truett is in the tooth-filled mask in the bottom picture, and Owen made his a pumpkin, with the stem and a leaf.

We Caught the last KITTEN!

So Robert was successful at catching the last kitten! But not without that little 2 pounder giving him several bites with her razor-sharp teeth!

Anyway- after 4 baths, she is finally free of fleas and dirt. Now the hard part...what do we name her???

Mr. Peterson-- the kitten

Well, we have given the kitten a name, and it is PETERSON. (after the old farmer who lives down the street, and actually the owner of the house/barn where we trapped the kitten)
So far, Peterson seems to be adjusting pretty well. I think the loudness of Truett intimidates him some, but otherwise, he just hangs out. As for skippy (our other cat), she is not very happy about the new addition to our family. Hopefully that will all get better with time.
And we still have not caught the last kitten. We have caught 2 possums though. And I am glad that Robert has dealt with that, because I am not a big fan of those pink tailed rodents.

Peterson holding on for dear life...

Another barn kitten

Well, we finally trapped another barn kitten. And here are the first pictures of it-- fresh after a bath. Those little suckers are quite dirty and also have a few flea friends.
Anyway, I had no idea how difficult it could be to catch these little rascals. As a human, I just assumed I was smarter than a cat, but perhaps that is not the case. Nevertheless, there is still one kitten left to catch, and we are still trying. (I better not quit my day job and become the Hutto Animal Police Officer-- because obviously I SUCK at it!)
This kitten is not named yet, but when Owen gets home from school, I'm sure he will pick out a fitting name for it.

Owl Halloween Pumpkin

Well, Owen's teacher loves owls, so we decided to make her a pumpkin owl for halloween. Here are a couple of pictures of it. Owen said by the time he got it to the classroom the feet and the sign had fallen off. I think Miss Hendrix was able to perform a small "surgery" on the little fella and glue everything back in place.

Truett's first day of Pre-school

Truett started his 1st day of preschool today at Creative Kids in Hutto. He will go to "school" on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am- 2pm.
He had no problem leaving mom at the door. His teacher's name is Rachel, and he enjoyed making a halloween project-- which was a spider web, and they worked with the letter H and the number 9. Truett actually calls his school "the white school", which could sound racist, but he only calls it that because the building is white.

Truett is proud of his new backpack with his name on it, and a jar with lizards on it. He told me it was too heavy though. I'm not sure what was heavy about it, since he only had his lunch in it!

Truett's 1st Sleepover

We went up to Dallas, and Truett had his 1st sleepover at The Clark's house! (Not that Owen has much experience at the sleep over thing-- this mama hen doesn't let her chicks out of the nest very often!)
Anyway, my good friend Missy Clark opened up her house and endured a night and day with my wild boys so Robert and I could go to the Texas/OU football game. Her daughter Edee had probably never seen such dirty, sweaty balls of energy in her house before. The boys had a ball, and we were thankful for the time away!

Cameron Park Zoo- Waco, Texas

We went to the Zoo on our way to the State Fair/Texas vs. OU football game. The boys LOVED this zoo. Truett said his favorite animal was the lion, "the daddy lion with all the hair, not the mama lion". And Owen said he liked the meerkats.
We got to see the black bear take a swim/bath, and the snake exhibits were my least favorite.

Two VERY large ladybugs at the Zoo.

Here is a short video of this piano/chime music maker at the Asian Exhibit. There were rope swings and a small play area, which both Owen and Truett liked a lot.

Barn Kittens- Fred and Velma

So, the old farmer that lives down the street from our home in Hutto has a ferel cat that had kittens. And those kittens are of course WILD too. We have spent the past week trying to catch them, and finally I borrowed a live animal trap from the Hutto Animal Control and caught 2 of the 4 kittens.
These two cuties have been "adopted" by our friends Mazzy and Artie Zimmerman. They have decided to name them Fred and Velma (which is what they are dressing up as for Halloween). Needless to say, both cats are girls, and the white girl kitty now holds the bold name of FRED.
And on another note, when Truett and I caught the first kitten, the tiny black one now named Velma, my little bull Truett, climbed up on top of my car seat crying out "It's going to kill me". I think what actually scared my usually fearless child was the gut-wrenching howling coming from the 2 pound kitten, which sounded more like a roaring T-REX. I almost peed my pants laughing from it all.

We started a family blog!

Okay, so we--The Balcer Bunch-- including Robert, Suzy, Owen, and Truett have finally joined in with the rest of the world and started a family blog. We hope to document a few of our finer moments and share them with our family and friends.
Hopefully, it won't be too boring, and will maybe provide a laugh or two.
