Truett's 5th Birthday Party

All Truett wanted to do for his 5th birthday was play minature golf. Well, I set up for just a few friends to play glow-in-the-dark minature golf, and when we arrived at the place, the entire place had been rented out for a party! So after a quick change of venue, we ended up at Austin's Park and Pizza where the kids could play mini-golf, ride go carts, drive water boats, play lazer tag, jump in the bounce house and play video games. So I suppose the change ended up better for the kids.

Truett's friend from school Bella (which we must clarify is NOT his girlfriend per Truett's exact words) rode with us from Hutto to the place. Truett was very happy to have his friend in the car with him, and at his small party.

I think the kids enjoyed the go-carts the most. There were smaller go-karts for the not-so-tall kids, and their ability to get to control their own car was fun to watch. Owen was extremely serious of course, wanting to make sure and pass everyone so he could be the "winner". Truett was just cruising around the course smiling.

We ended up having the party early (on March 10th) because Truett's BFF Artie was going to be gone for the entire week of Spring Break when Truett's actual birthdy was. Those 2 went thru the entire 18 holes in about 10 minutes.

Truett's 1st T-Ball Game

Well, Truett decided he wanted to try baseball, so we signed him up with the Hutto Little League.
This has been a challenge I think mostly because it is very slow-paced, which Truett is NOT. He is trying though, and has actually come a long way. On one of his 1st practices, when he was playing 3rd base, a runner made it to 3rd and Truett got up in his face and yelled, "Hey- get off my base! This is MY Base!"

His team name is the Sluggers, and they had their 1st game on Saturday.
Truett spent most of his time on his knees playing in the dirt. But he did get to bat a few times, which he tried both left and right handed. It seems to me he hits better from the left...maybe this will lead to a mega fortune in the future. But for now... I will just have to hope he doesn't get pegged in the head with a ball while he is spaced out having dirt parties by himself at shortstop.

Robert actually had to help with the coaching because one of Truett's coaches couldn't make it to the 1st game.
It is funny to me that it takes at least 4 adults at a time to get these boys playing this game. And even with that, it seems unorganized and chaotic. Glad Robert was the one helping, and not me!

He really does look cute in his uniform. I am sure this counts for something, even if he never does excel at the sport! ;-)

Owen as LEGO MAN

Owen's school had a super hero week where they celebrated all different super heros. As part of that, the kids were asked to make up a hero and dress as him/her at school. Owen decided to go as LEGO MAN. So I sewed some legos on his t-shirt in the shape of "L" and "M" and Owen wore his red cape. As far as I know-- it was a success for him-- he does love legos.
