Truett's 1st Soccer Game.

Well, in 90% humidity, after we got 7 inches of rain just 3 days prior, Truett competed in his very first soccer game. HE DID AWESOME. I was worried that he might just lolly-gag around and wonder off the field, but he did not. He was serious, and ready to play. He scored several goals (not that they keep score at this age) and was beaming with big smiles and a red, sweaty face.
And after last weeks indecision about what the team name should be, the coach decided to name the team the Fantastic Four.

Truett Starts Soccer!

Well, after watching his big brother play for 2 years, Truett is finally old enough to play on a soccer team! He had his first practice last night. There is one girl and 3 boys on the team, and the biggest problem was trying to decide on a team name. Truett wanted to be called the road runners and the girl wanted to be called Strawberry Shortcake, and another boy wanted to be named Batman. So... it is still undecided at this point, and it should be interesting when the decision is made.
But Truett did great. Hopefully he will like playing soccer as much as Owen does-- because it sure burns off some of that wild little boy energy!

Wolf Spider

So we caught a wolf spider near a potted plant in our backyard. I'm not sure the pictures give it justice-- because the thing seemed bigger than a full sized cat if you ask me.
And I didn't know it was called a wolf spider until we researched images to find out what kind of spider it was. But I knew the bumps on the back end of it were it's babies! Owen kept begging to hold it and I kept telling him he couldn't. Well, from what I have read, they bite, and are poisonous. I guess that is one trip to the Emergency Room we avoided. Anyway- we kept it in the jar until B.O.B. got home to see it and then the boys let it go. I'm just hoping that big spider is now doing some good and eating up some pesty ants or something.

1st Day of 2nd Grade

Owen started 2nd grade this morning. He did not want me to walk him into his classroom. He said, "I've been doing this for years Mom, I can do it all by myself." Truett was still at home sleeping, so there were no long goodbye hugs, no time for tears, just getting to business and back in the swing of school days.

I actually pulled out Owen's other front tooth. Which is an odd feeling. I think I will leave the rest of that up to Robert.

Kid Bathroom Remodel

When Robert finally got back from South Korea, he had 4 days off from work. And no time for jetlag-- we got to work on remodeling the kids bathrooms.
It was not an easy task. Niether of us had put down tile before-- which is a back breaking, knee-aching process. I'm glad I don't do that for a living!
Anyway- the end result came out pretty good (if I must toot our own horns).

Here is a before picture. There was carpet, and bad hollywood style lights. The demolition of that bad idea was the best part of all of it!

Austin Lego Store Opens!

We stood in line for about 1 hour to get into the new Lego store at Barton Creek Mall. Truly it was organized chaos-- but the boys had a good time.

A lego store opened in the mall in Austin and had a building event, which was to build an 8 foot Buzz Lightyear. Owen built several of the bricks for the statue. He was so excited to go--but he had a hard time picking out a lego set to buy in the store. I think he wants it all, and his brain goes into overload and melts down trying to make a decision. He ended up picking a house that you could build into either a 3story condo, a beach house, or 2 story home-- complete with BBQ grill, mailbox, and apple tree.
Truett on the other hand had NO problem deciding on the tractor/construction lego set he wanted.

Owen lost another tooth (the one on the bottom) and he has 2 others really loose right now. But we went to the dentist this week, and he does not have any cavities and things are looking good!

South Korea and More

Robert won't get on the blog to write about his trip to South Korea, so I thought I would take a picture of some of the food and candy items he brought back. He seemed to mostly dislike the customs of removing your shoes and sitting on the floor. But he didn't have to eat octopus or jellyfish or anything else too strange, which I was sort of hoping for. ;-)

Another trip to Sandy Harbor:

Well, Robert's job shipped him off to South Korea for 3 weeks and we were left to fend for ourselves. The boys stayed 2 weekends with Mimi--while I worked-- and then the boys went to Oklahoma for 1 week. (which was the 1st time they spent the night away from me or Robert)

Anyway- we filled our weeks with playdates, swimming and a week at JZ's lakehouse. It was hot summer fun.

And even Bailey got to enjoy Horseshoe Bay!

Notice the kids are the only people in the canoe. Thank goodness for Gwen, because she actually did the rowing that got the canoe down the water. Owen was in charge of "steering" the canoe which probably just created more drag for poor Gwen up front.

PERFECT WEATHER!

I bought these balsa wood buliding projects that the boys also wanted to paint, and here is how they turned out. I built the owl with Truett, and needless to say, there was a couple of pieces left over--which there should not be--because I got frustrated with putting all the "feather"pieces together. And Robert helped Owen build the house-- after I had started the project and gave up once it got to the staircase. I just don't have the patience for those tedious little models.
